Rufus Du Sol has been around for more than a century, first in Australia and eventually in the U.S. and elsewhere. The alternative dance group from Sydney consists of James Hunt, Jon George, and Tyrone Lindqvist. The trio released their debut album titled Atlas in 2013 and has since gained international fame. In addition to performing at Coachella and the SoCal festival in both 2017 and 2019, the dance band recently returned to Las Vegas to take over XS at a July DJ set during their Nightswim event.
The band initially formed in November 2010 when the three men combined their musical talents. Just a few months later in January 2011, Rufus Du Sol released their debut EP called RUFUS EP. Their debut single, “We Left” was a hit from the start as it raised to number 13 on the Hype Machine charts, and another track from the album, “Paris Collides” reached number 8. The music video for “We Left” was also nominated for the 2012 Vimeo awards for best music video and was one of the final 12 finalists internationally. In 2012, Rufus Du Sol released their second EP titled Rufus Blue.
In 2013, the group released Atlas which debuted at number 1 on the Australian Albums Chart. This would be their first album. Soon after in 2015, the band released their second album titled Bloom. The lead single “You Were Right” peaked at number 22 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart and was also certified double platinum. More recently in 2018, Rufus Du Sol released “No Place,” followed by “Underwater” and “Lost in My Mind.” These tracks can be found on the band’s third album “Solace” which is their most current album to date. However, the band continues to make and perform music.
There is much to like about Rufus Du Sol. All three band members play instruments and offer visuals that are truly incredible. In their 2018 single “Treat You Better,” the vision and artistry is second to none, drawing attention to their brand even more. While the band has been long in the entertainment industry, they only recently moved to LA from Australia. This occasion was marked by their appearance at a Wynn Nightclub gig in Las Vegas. However, this isn’t the band’s first time in Vegas. They have performed a number of times over the years, including at the 2017 Electric Daisy Carnival.
